Cookies

Cookies policy.

Last updated: 27 May 2026

Plain English: we use a small number of cookies so the website works, so the live-chat widget can remember your conversation, and so we can see (in aggregate) which pages are useful. We don’t use cookies for advertising, retargeting or selling your data.

You can review or change your choices at any time by opening the cookie settings panel.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website asks your browser to store on your device. They let the site remember things between page loads, such as the items in your basket, whether you’re signed in, or that you’ve already dismissed the cookie banner. Some cookies are set by us; others are set by trusted services we use (such as the Crisp chat widget or Google Analytics). We also use technologies that work in a similar way, including local-storage entries in your browser.

The categories of cookies we use

  1. Strictly necessary cookies – needed for the site, shop and learner area to function (for example, keeping items in your basket and keeping you signed in). These are always on.
  2. Functional cookies – set by the Crisp live-chat widget so you can have a conversation with support and pick it up again later. These are only set if you choose to allow them.
  3. Analytics cookies – help us understand how visitors use the public website. Reports are generally presented in aggregate, but Google Analytics 4 processes cookie, device and usage identifiers. These are only set if you choose to allow them.

We do not use advertising, marketing or retargeting cookies, and we do not allow third parties to use cookies on our website to build advertising profiles about you.

Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are essential for the website, the shop and the learner area to work. Without them, parts of the site such as checkout and logging in cannot function. They do not require your consent under UK law, but we still list them here for transparency.

Functional cookies (Crisp live chat)

Crisp is the chat widget you see in the bottom corner of the page. If you choose to allow functional cookies, Crisp will remember your chat session, the name and email you’ve shared with our team, and your previous messages, so that a conversation isn’t lost if you close the window. If you switch functional cookies off, the chat widget will not load and your previous chat history will not be available on this device.

CookieSet byPurposeExpires
crisp-client/* (multiple)client.crisp.chatRemembers your chat session, name and message history with the support team so you can continue a conversation when you return.Up to 6 months

For more detail, see Crisp’s own privacy notice at crisp.chat/en/privacy.

Analytics cookies (Google Analytics 4)

If you choose to allow analytics cookies, Google Analytics 4 sets the cookies below so we can understand which pages are popular, how visitors arrive at the site, and where the experience can be improved. Google Analytics is configured with IP-address anonymisation. We do not use Google Signals, demographics or remarketing audiences. We do not run analytics inside the paid learner course area.

CookieSet byPurposeExpires
_gagoogle-analytics.comDistinguishes unique visitors so we can see how many people use the site and which content is most useful.2 years
_ga_*google-analytics.comStores session state for Google Analytics 4 so we can measure how visitors move through the site.2 years
_gidgoogle-analytics.comDistinguishes users for 24 hours to measure short-term, page-level engagement.24 hours

For more detail, see Google’s privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.

How to change your choices

The easiest way to change your mind is to open the cookie settings panel. You can switch functional and analytics cookies on or off at any time.

You can also control or delete cookies directly in your browser. The links below explain how:

  • Google Chrome
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Apple Safari
  • Microsoft Edge

Please note that switching off strictly necessary cookies through your browser may break parts of the site, including login and checkout.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookies Policy from time to time, for example if we add or remove a service that sets cookies. When we make a meaningful change we will update the date at the top of this page.
